All about the Guild

The inaugural meeting of the Staithes Lifeboat Guild was held on Tuesday 3rd October 1962 in St. Peter’s Hall.

A committee was formed of family of fishermen and lifeboat crew and they endeavoured to raise funds for the RNLI whilst at the same time enjoying the opportunity to socialise.

40 years later the Lifeboat Guild is still going strong with a membership of over 60. There have been changes over the years with the biggest being the opening of the Station Shop. At last no more standing in cold, wet fields at agricultural shows!

Of course this does not mean the days of fundraising are over and the Guild is kept busy with many events throughout the year.
